Watching the Rays

In front of the Villa we have seen Giant Manta Rays, Spotted Eagle Rays, and Mobula Rays (also known as Devil Rays). I had no idea before going to Puerto Vallarta that rays will jump out of the water. In November, the rays seemed to be particularly active and we had two of our all-time favorite moments. The first incredible moment was while we were headed back from a day of snorkeling.

We came across a couple of Mobula rays jumping out of the water.

That was cool. Then we came across a fever of Mobula Rays jumping out of the water. (Yes, I had to look up what you call a group of rays). My daughter quickly volunteered to jump in and take some video.

The second moment was kayaking in front of the villa. A Giant Manta Ray came under the kayak and jumped in front. My daughter later commented that she expected the trip to be fun, but she did not expect to have so many of her all time most amazing experiences. Below is a picture of what to look for when you are kayaking. You can see how the large fins of the manta rays will come out of the water.
